Predictions really predict?

Daily Astrology Predictions for Sagittarius: Oct 07, 2008
"If freedom is the goal for you, then grant it to all others too. You might re-examine your relationship with a group you are it, and your attitude towards it. Today you may feel particularly attached to memories of past pleasures. Imagination adds to pleasure. Illusion's a more risky measure. It's a time to give and get Love without conditions or expectations. If you are ready to "go for it" now, you might be recognized or rewarded. Soon you might see an expansion or extension of some things you value the most."
Uh oh, that’s for me! So expecting freedom from me? ;) Expansion or extension of somethings i value most?? hummm...? lemme think....All of us at some point of time read such horoscopes/predictions. Be it from some renowed astrologer, panchagams, TV or atleast in some magazine or newspaper. When I happened to check out, what these Zodaic signs mean, I found this:-“More than 3000 years ago, astronomers wondered how the sky would appear if the stars could be seen during the daytime. Based on their observations of the night sky, some astronomers determined that during the daytime, the Sun would appear to enter or pass through a different constellation each month. These twelve constellations are called the Zodiac. Many ancient people believed that a person’s behavior, emotions, and fate were heavily influenced by the month of that person’s birth–ie. that person’s astrological sign.”
But today we all know Earth spins on its own axis and orbits the sun, etc and yet believe/read these predictions! What is your take on Astrology/horoscopes?

Make way for politicians!

This is about more than just traffic laws, of course. It's about the arrogance of power. These politicians not only assume their lives, meetings and fundraisers are more important than everyone else's to the point that they don't have to follow the rules, they're willing to put other people on the road at risk to prove their point. The minute "public safety" conflicts with their own sense of self-importance, these politicians are quick to dispense with the laws they expect the rest of us to follow.
All these politicians enjoy open road ride while the rest of the public waits. Is it fare?
